After shuffling our current volunteer pool around a bit, it seems that we’ll manage to open on thursdays again from this one, 10th July.
We always need more volunteers as it does get very busy, especially this time of year! The thursday shift is the longest, running from 14:00 til 20:00, so even if you can only offer half a shift’s worth of time, it would definitely be very helpful, regardless of which day, but preferably a slot to which you can commit on a weekly basis, as it makes it a lot easier to organise a rota around. We are a fully volunteer-run collective, and as such, don’t have any volunteer co-ordinator, etc..
Wed 15:00 – 19:00
Thu 14:00 – 20:00
Fri 15:00 – 19:00
Sat 14:00 – 18:00
Oh noes! A distress signal has been sent from Thursday’s volunteers, that in order to open on Thursday again they need more people to volunteer.
56a bikespace takes all skill levels of mechanics, it’s just the desire to learn more that we need most! Of course, a good skill level (brakes, gears…) to begin with is always useful.
Check out our what//where page for more general info and contact info.
The 56a Infoshop is currently hosting a mini-exhibition on the protests against austerity from the 2011 cuts. Materials are from the 56a archive and include photographs, flyers and leaflets from demonstrations, and independent newsletters. The fight still isn’t over, so come remember and get inspired!
The Infoshop is open Wednesday 3-7pm, Thursday 2-8pm, Friday 3-7pm, and Saturdays 2-6pm.

Some images of our last workday – repainting some walls and the bench, disassembling bikes to be used as scrap and reusing the parts, reorganising the space and adding some artistic touches.
